Last night we joined the crazy crowd in the official opening of San Miguel Beer Oktober Fest 2014 at the Greenfield District. It was an awesome and insane night!
The gates opened at 2pm and the show started I think at around 6pm. Entrance tickets cost 300 pesos with 6 redeemable beers. We had our little snack at Subway before going inside.
Banda ni Kelly was the one playing when we got there. I don’t know them but the vocalist is kinda funny. I’m also surprised that the crowd were pretty behave and disciplined. I guess it’s because of the bouncers who were spread out and controlling them. There are also “beer” men roaming around whom you can claim your beers with.
Flying Ipis was the next performer and I really admire all girls band or bands with female vocalist. Just got a little frustrated ’cause once upon a time I dream of becoming a vocalist. :p I like their set, techno-indie-rock! And I got my eye on the guitarist, so fucking awesome! The drummer is so sexy that the group of men beside us goes crazy when she was being flashed through the screen.
I got the whole eargasm thing when Yolanda Moon played. The blues is super super nice! I LOVE the instrumentals and all!
Then there goes Techy Romantics with their super cute female vocalist and techno-indie sounds! Lovin’ the whole combination of her voice, the DJ’s awesome beats and the lead’s crazy solos!
And we couldn’t get enough when another indie band rocked the stage, Taken By Cars. Another cute female-front band. I’m so into indie music nowadays and because I heard some of it live, I couldn’t be more in love with it! OPM is so effin’ awesome!!!!
After those lovely indie bands, the crowd got refreshed because of the “Hotel California” song from the Replay Band. All members are I think in their mid-30’s, 40’s or 50’s. I don’t know but they nailed Chicago’s songs and The Prayer Song.
All attention were on the stage when Rivermaya appeared. And got even more loud and attentive when PBA stars and celebrities started to come out on stage. It was jam-packed!
AND the BEER SHOWER STARTED! I didn’t have any photos during that crazy moment, well because my camera is not BEER-proof! LOL
While we were like being bathed with San Miguel beers, Rivermaya is playing “Awit ng Kabataan” on the background and it was one of the greatest moments of our lives! We were singing on the top of our lungs and jumping and jumping. They sang their newest single “Tayong Dalawa” and of course, their hit songs like “Hinahanap-hanap Kita”, “Elesi”, and “Kisapmata”. I got a bit of a crush on the lead and bass guitarists. (I had a thing for long-haired guys)
The crowd went a bit lay-low when they finished their last song and got recharged again when 6 Cyclemind came out. I don’t really listen to their songs but I know some of it. And it came to my surprise that they have a new lead vocalist, Tutti. He was so good in handling the crowd and also have a good live-singing voice. Well, all of them are good in live. Very proud of OPM! 🙂
We didn’t see Slapshock and Greyhoundz play because we went home after 6 Cyclemind as it was too late and we’re kinda tired! BUT STILL we got the best out of the fest.
Getting lost in the music, singing at the top of our lungs, jumping to the beat, all hands in the air is what freedom in music is all about. Relive the OPM! Rock on! 😀
On the other hand, please support Up Dharma Down and Sarah Geronimo in MTV European Music Awards. Sarah G got nominated for Best South East Asian Act while UDD is now competing for the 7th slot of the same category. To vote, just tweet the following: “#MTVEMA #NominateUpDharmaDown”.
